Unbending arm is a widely spread practice throughout the Chinese martial arts, but also other arts such as Aikido. In many circles, however, unbending arm is seen as a parlor trick that can be learned in as little as 5 minutes- one with no real combat application.
"Why would you fight with stiff arms?"
This isn't the whole story, however. Tai Chi has many approaches to obtain "unbending arms", but it isn't a parlor trick, and you aren't being stiff to do it.
By practicing many kinds of internal power, you can become unmoving or "unbending" to anyone trying to force you to move. You - on the other hand, can move freely and easily without impediment.
